Visit Your Local Zoo

A top family place to visit in a city is the local zoo. When I don't have a chance to travel away, I explore the sites of the greater metropolitan Houston, TX area where I reside. The Houston, TX, zoo is on top of my list. It is not the greatest but for us down under in Texas, it is the best.

Ten months ago, I bought a Houston Zoo membership and it has paid for itself many times over. I visit at least twice a month, have brought friends and family along.

Today, I could not get a picture of my favorite group of silverback gorillas. Only once, when I visited, five young male silverbacks were romping their roomy enclosure, rolling from one end to the other. It was a pleasure just watching the fun they had.

I can't wait for December, zoo lights are a delight to see.

Every time I visit the Houston zoo, I get an affogato. a scoop of vanilla ice cream or gelato with a shot of espresso.

Affogato = Italian for "drowned" It was in the eighties today, by the time I reached my table, the espresso had already drowned the gelato.
